Service at Dollar General in Red Lake FAlls, MN
This complaint pertains to the store in Red Lake Falls, MN. At the beginning of the opening of the store, your store was the most visited store in our town. For the last few months, it has been very difficult to find the store open for business during the day and weekends. Today the hours were 8a.m. until 11 a.m. The store was closed from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Customers stand outside the doors and have to pound on the doors for the one employee occupying the store to open the doors. The store is a wreck, no stock has been put on the shelves, yet we are told that they have to close the store during the day to allow the employee to stock shelves. The store looks like a tornado went through it. Seems to me that Dollar General would be financially better to simply close the store for good. People of the town would have to travel out of town to shop but at least we can get in the doors and shop. PLEASE REVIEW THIS MATTER AND GIVE THIS YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!
Desired outcome: Have the store open per regular hours and have the shelves stocked at all times. After 17 years managing a local store, I see many issues that need to be addressed.
sale and 50%off items
I went to store #17260 this morning to use my digital coupons. My receipt #[protected] .I entered my phone number like usual. There was a line so even though my total seemed high, I didn't want to hold up the line so I just left. When I check my receipt I had only saved $5.00. Checking further I was charged full price for the $8.00 , 50 % off planter, the salsa was full price ,no BOGO.I go to DG to save money but the registers don't always work right. I'll watch it closer and hold up the line when it's wrong
Desired outcome: Do a better job
Store in Llano Texas on College Street
😡😡😡😡😡Went to the Southside Dollar General. When I got to the checkout there was only a young man at the middle register and a woman with children. No one to check out at first register so I went to the 2nd. Then the two employees were talking behind the register. I saw it said “Card Only” & “no alcohol or tobacco at this register.” It did NOT say “Self...

Theppl on the store steal all the time so I thought he took it
Dollar general store
Visiting from Texas 10/2/22 mid afternoon and the store was a disaster very dirty and disorganized employees were arguing cursing and fussing at each other very unpleasant and unprofessional no management on site to deescalate the situation very shocked on the behavior of what manager was there on duty and how he spoke to and treated his employees I wouldn't ever return very bad look on the community and dollar general as a company
Desired outcome: I will not be returning
Managers and other employees
My name is Patricia King. June 29 - July 4, 2022. I was working at Dollar General at the Horsebend Plaza on Powder Spring. I walked off the job after two weeks. I was hired as a full time Lead Salesperson. Whitney, manager at the time gave me 19 hours the first week. I asked why wasn't getting 30 hours like corporation hired me as. She said the money wasn't in store budget. The next week I got lesser hours. I told her I couldn't live off that. I gave her two weeks notice. I found later Whitney was giving my hours to herself and Virgina, Assistant Manager, who no longer works their. I also had problems with Kareem. I had problems with him as a customer and employee. He left early one evening closing the store two hours early. He asked me to come in two hours early the next day. I didnt come in early. I came in regular time. 7/3/22 He yelled at me when I walked door yell why I didn't come early like I was a child. I couldn't work at general dollar anymore. As a customer I still having problems with Kareem. He refuses to give me change and cash app money
Desired outcome: I quit. General Dollar don't want to hire me. I report Kareem to manager. They said other customers were complaining about Kareem. He was demoted.
Employee
Your employee, tim edwards, totally went off on me. Something was mispriced and I brought it to his attention... He said "f*k it thats not the price, someone put it in the wrong place" and threw the item. Then he said "welcome to the real world"... I informed my husband of what he said... My husband came back to the store and he told my husband "get the f*k out of my store". We talked to the manager and district manager and "video" showed us in the wrong. Seriously? This needs to be dealt with... He's totally out of control
Desired outcome: this man does not need to be working with the public
Store closings
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the Montpelier, Va Dollar General Store. I shop here often, however, if you wish to shop after 6 pm it is hit or miss. The store employees decide that they wish to close at 7:00 or 8:00 pm and they do so. I have even been informed at 7:50 that I will need to make my final selections and meet at the register as they close in 10 minutes. The signs outside clearly show the hours as 8 am to 9 pm. The aisles are consistently filled with unloaded stock, blocking entry or exit from virtually 80 % or more of the aisles.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response that this will be addressed and corrected. Thank you sincerely.
Customer Service
On September 30th between 12-12:30 in the location in Middletown CT. The cashier was very rude regarding the bags. The cashier was bagging my items and didnt continue with the rest of the items. I asked her if I can have another bag she said this is not charity and you have a bag. I was taken back by this comment as I was with my elderly mother. I told her that I know I have a bag but you bagged the other items so I thought you were going to bag the rest. So I begin bagging my items into my personal bag.
I previously worked at Ames Corporate office and we strived to ensure our cashiers were properly trained to greet and respect the customers as they are th reason we were in business.
I am very disappointed in the service I received today.
Desired outcome: All staff needs to be properly trained and has passed a customer service class
Employee livelyhood
All these people complaining about a store and employees who look annoyed - it's because they have to deal with this company. You guys have no idea what they put them through. They give so little hours a week that, even with the store manager working 60 hours (well over what should be required considering the pay and benefits offered to them), they don't even half enough hours to have 2 people working at all time. Half the time someone is there alone, and this isn't just for the small stores - even the busy stores are given terrible hours. So the one person working has to sit there and ring up all the customers on the register and never has the time to get anything done. On top of that, they send stores unnecessarily large trucks filled with too much of product they already have, and almost none they actually need. They send the same size truck every week so they can meet their quota, but its filled with stuff they already have so they get stock rooms full of overstock products. They've added about 40 hours worth of work in the past two years and stores still have the same or less hours than they did those two years ago. The company is tearing it's employees apart in the name of maximizing corporate profit. Nothings ever going to get done though, because simple minded people like the ones posting these stupid complaints would rather complain about how their entitlement was damaged. If you guys want change and better managed, stocked, and friendly stores, put yourselves in the shoes of the employees and you'll see corporate Dollar General is the cause, not them.
Desired outcome: Stop being profit greedy and make the necessary changes to your company
Store doors closed at 9:45am filthy parking lot
On September 28, 2022, I drove to the Dollar General on 339 Nisbet St. NW Jacksonville Al. I found that the Doors were locked at 9:45am, parking lot was full of trash and cigarette butts. Trash cans were over flowing. I had to drive down the road to purchase what I needed. This is a high traffic college town that relies on this store to be open during your business hours and presentable in our town.
Desired outcome: Clean, presentable, open for business
Service and pricing issues
I stopped at the New Paris Dollar General location to pick up a few things for work. When I reached the counter with my items, all but the Lay's Potato Chip (2 for $1) wrung up incorrectly/not as price had appeared on the shelf price tag. I questioned the employee as to why everything was ringing wrong and she said that she would not override the prices, on one item because if was Coca Cola and they are responsible for their pricing tags and I needed to deal with Coca Cola. Then she said that she would not honor the prices of the shelf tags because "all the locals" know the tags aren't right, further stating she only has 5 employees and dropping a large stack of new price tags on the counter for me to see. I told her that was not necessary and I wanted to return everything. The return process was problematic as she had to change registers because the bar on the receipt that just printed would not scan, nor did it scan on the other register. She asked me to give her back the change and returned my $20 bill. I had worked in retail management for over 25 years and also for Dollar General so I know what good customer service looks like,.. This experience was the most disrespectful and lousy service I have ever received. The stores need to honor the shelf tag price until they get the price tags changed! It is not the customer's fault, nor should the customer have to second guess what their purchase cost will be because the tags are not reflecting newer prices. This is exactly how Dollar General loses customers, especially customers who will let everyone know about the experience!
Desired outcome: I want a response and think that Dollar General should be on notice as this is not the only location where the shelf price tag has been one price and it wrings another at the register.
Pets in the stores
Too many people bringing pets in the stores. No signs anywhere on what is allowed and what is not allowed. Many of the pets coming in are puppies that someone has slapped a service vest on. It takes a professional trainer on average eighteen months to train a dog to do any service or task. Clear signs are needed explaining the difference between service dogs and emotional support animal and should be posted outside and inside the store. Untrained animals pose not only a danger from aggressive attacks but health department issues. All employees should be trained on this topic.
Desired outcome: signs and better awareness
Employee
Rosie Turner is using Dollar General to find dates. She met my boyfriend and wanted to hang out with him with our son they had a sexual relationship from May to September. She knew he was with me and we have 4 kids. She has seen us in the dollar general many times together with my son. When he quit seeing her she contacted me. She was telling him she was gnna beat me up and calling me names and threatening him if he didn't talk to her. She has been posting my sons pictures and videos on Facebook. I feel like I can't go to the store now.
Desired outcome: Termination
Rude to me and customers
Dollar tree store number [protected] Washington Ave., San Leandro. The date I was there was September 20 722 at 12:27. The line was so long I asked the cashier could she call for help she ignored me I continue to ask her and she rudely said if I had somebody I would call how rude so I asked her could I speak with the manager she said she was the manager Emily and I told her I was going to call the main office she gave me a slip of paper with a number and the name Stephanie. this is very important to me please call me at area code [protected]. My email [protected]@aol.com I have paper she gave me which has her handwriting.
Desired outcome: Verbally reprimanded and Demoted
At least she was being honest with you. DG (not the employees at the store) has cut payroll hours for all their stores. Can you even imagine showing up for a job and you are the only person showing up. Her job is running register, putting stock out, dealing with customers and getting no breaks the whole time she is there. Sounds frustrating. DG is not going to do anything about your complaint. DG is glad someone showed up to work and kept their store running. DG exploits desperate employees who are willing to work alone to make a paycheck. The cashier was doing her best in a bad situation. I'm sure you would have reacted the same way if you were in her shoes.
Employee named Jessica
I was falsely accused by a employee, their is a conflict of interest with this employee, I had rang up a couple of items at self check out when a women had came up from an aisle behind me that had already rang up a few items and had forgot something so I just paid the lady for what I ad rang up on her purchase then started scanning mine when the employer came out of office screaming and hollering customers were leaving items and walking out of store freaking out. I tried to talk to the lady and all she kept screaming was call the law. I was arrested for all the items remaining in my cart and the item I had rang upshe then was showing parts of a video from her phone to other
customers in the store
Desired outcome: I think the lady needs to be fired if not charged for humiliation, conflict of interest due to a family member and breaking the dollar general codes
You should have pressed the help button on the self checkout, had your items deleted and gone to another register. The employees do not really know you and do not know if you where going to pay for the rest of your items in good faith.
Racist Manager
I visited Store #08519 in Carolina Beach, NC on 8/21/22. The manager, who was a white manager, commented to me as I walking to the register, that the beach umbrella I was purchasing was not refundable. There were white persons also buying beach items and she did not direct her comments to them. When I got to the register, she instructed the older male cashier to write the words "Non Returnable" on my receipt, despite the fact that he was not instructed to write those words on any other person's receipt and the fact that there was no sign indicating the purchase was a final sale/not returnable. I had no intention of using the umbrella and trying to return it - she clearly assumed I would do so because I am a black woman. I was visiting from out of town and have not encountered such blatant discrimination in a very long time.
Desired outcome: Fire or discipline this manager and have her provide an apology for her rude/discriminatory behavior.
Shelves not stocked, Items in aisles
Store #18401 (Sullivan Gardens) This store has been going down since the lady that is manager now has had the job. The shelves are not stocked and the aisles are hard to get thru because of the merchandise sitting in the floor. I go there often to get specific items. Most of the time I can get one of the workers to go to the stock room and get it for me. Today the dog feed shelves were empty so I went to store #23420 (Fall Branch) I was amazed. The shelves were full, a good selection of dog feed, and the store was clean. There is just a few miles between these stores I why can't my store be managed better?
Desired outcome: Put the stock that is sitting in the back on the shelves.
I am complaining about the store in milaca, mn.
This store is an absolute mess. The cleanliness is terrible. There are carts shoved down half the aisles which makes it impossible to find anything. I talked with the manager and she said its because corporate keeps sending trucks with merchandise and they have no place to store it so they put it on carts in the middle of the aisles. Something needs to be done asap. If corporate came to this store and saw what was going on in there i think they would be appaled.
Desired outcome: I WANT TO BE ABLE TO GO INTO THIS STORE AND ACTUALLY SHOP FOR STUFF. I WOULD ALSO LIKE THE STORE TO AT LEAST LOOK CLEAN. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MESS.
