Recently our hometown will be down to one store and that is dollar general, this store could really use a good cleaning and their help in there are also not very clean., with the closing of our alco store this leaves only dollar general, we will have to travel at least 25 miles for the closest wal-mart, or k-mart or dollar tree.This can be a really up and coming store for Havana if someone would PLEASE come in and take a look it needs some help. Thank You!

Honestly I don't think the company cares about what's going on in their stores. I emailed them about the condition of the store in Holden MO several weeks ago. They responded that it would be looked into. The store is disgusting. Stuff of the floor everywhere that doesn't get picked up, no sweeping or mopping, lights out all through the store. Went in yesterday and nothing has changed. I noticed last week that the stores in Warrensburg MO are now the same. Dead bugs, dirt, crap on the floor just stays there. Just very dirty and unkept. Would not want to purchase food items from them. There's seems to be no pride in ownership.

The store #04974 located in Marmet, WV 25315, is always dirty. The cashiers are very pleasant but the ones that appear to be 'supervisors' usually are chatting with the customers and letting lines back up. Again, the cashiers are very nice and they appear to have a lot of duties to do all at one time. My main complaint is the outside of the store. At any given time you can go there and there are fast food bags, empty oil cans where people added oil while at the lot, cigarette butts, diapers. We have complained at least three times through the contact me site for Dollar General. It is still the citizens cleaning it up. The times before I had a call from a male that he was working on it, whatever that meant. This is so sad for the company. You have great products and great cashiers. Relieve some of your indoor help to go outside at least 4 times a day and clean the lot up, there is a rusted fence on the property line too. A major rusty eyesore. We have a beautification team that has talked to the manager or whoever said they were in charge that day, and still, even last night about 9 pm. It was I that filled a buggy full of trash. So sad.

I can understand you being upset and you have every right to be. It is DG policy to ID every customer buying alcohol or tobacco products. They do require you have the ID in your hand to inspect for fakes. It does not matter if you are 90 years old, they have to card everyone. They are also required to not except expired ID, so they have to also check for that. They should not have been so rude about it, but it is policy and if they get caught not carding someone they will get fired and have to pay a fine. Not all DG is that bad and I apologize for your experience.

Jeffrey; This site I am sure is monitored to some extent by DG, but you need to call the Corp Office, check your Receipt the Corp office is in Goodlettsville Tenn. Nothing will get done unless YOU do something. Make a difference

I am currently employed with this retail chain. I like my job for the most part. I enjoy talking to the customers. I am friendly and I try to be as helpful as possible. My boss, on the other hand, is a nightmare. Where do I start... When I was interviewed she told me that my red hair had to be dyed black because red is an unnatural color. She nagged me and nagged me until finally I colored my hair to a dark brown. She told me I was not allowed to wear capri pants. She also told me that my tattoos had to be covered up. About two weeks into my job there I was sent to work at another store to "help out". I was never informed that this would be part of my job. I was never even asked if I would be able to travel down there and work. When I got there, there was a girl working there with two toned hair (black and white) and everyone had on capri pants and everyone had tattoos that were visable... I noticed they had handbooks for the company. I thought that was odd considering my boss told me Dollar General does not have a handbook. The manager at the other store gladly gave me one and I took it home and studied it. My boss is a liar...Capri pants are allowed, tattoos are allowed as long as they are not offensive in nature, hair cannot be pink, blue or purple... Great..So I am being singled out. I have twenty missed calls on my phone and six voicemails all from her and none of it was anything of dire importance. I told her I was looking to work two or three days a week as I am a full time college student and a single mother. She cannot comprehend this concept. I told her about my school schedule and my child at my interview and she didnt seem to have a problem with it. Now why all of a sudden? I guess I am on my way out because I have been written up for something that she cannot even explain to me. I dont know what to do anymore... I like working there I just dont like her. Shes forged my signature as well as several other people's on work documents...

i have worked for dg for 2 years and i'm a manager in training and i just completed my managers school i would get in touch with my dm and/or rm and talk to them and if nothings done about this manager i would contact hr and maybe even erc

I am working as a manager for DG, well manager in training I should say, I have tattoos everywhere, and 8 piercings in my face, and two toned hair. All of which they knew when I started. I've never had any issue with this. I keep one piercing in, without the balls on it, all my tattoos are always visible. I've never been told that none of this can be. This is a corporate ran store. I don't care what the manager says the rules are, if it's a corporate rule, you follow that. Corporate is much more important that a ### ### manager. I'd talk to the DM or even the RM... human resources, and let them know what is going on.

@Tasha10 - You seriously have an attitude problem. As a DG employee I value my customers and consider some of them friends. My regulars are there at least 5-6 times a week and sometimes twice a day. If they being carts in or stay in the store when we are uncomfortable it means we have done our job of making our customers happy and treating them with respect. I feel the OP was not acting like a four year but a regular customer of that store and the amount she spends is always appreciated be it $5 or $500. I guess mostly what I am trying to say is you really sound like a bi**h!

First, turn your caps off. Nobody here needs your screaming. Secondly, notice the name of the entity you are shopping. "Dollar Store." Let's break this down, since you seem unable to comprehend. If you want salespeople to suck up to you and bend over backwards to help you, shop Neiman-Marcus or Nordstrom. If you want cheap crap at cheaper prices, keep shopping Dollar General.

I went into the Dollar General on Friday April 16, 2010 and I tell you their is this one cashier that is the rudest person I have ever seen and she stands and tells customers about her life problems. Her name is Cindy. I can't believe she is still working for this company. They must not care that they have a druggie workin for them. She stood and told a customer that she snorted pills before work. Don't they do drug testing? I know I would never have someone like this workin for me. I will never go back to this location as long as she is working their.

So i go into the store to buy some headphones. The store being dollar general is known for its off brand goods. When I saw that they had headphones by the name of Jelly Belly I wanted to google the product so that I could see if they were any good. I wasn't going to buy some crappy headpiece and have it break in two days. So when I googled the product and told the cashier I wouldn't be buying it, he threw a fit, threw my money, and threw the headphones, and then began mocking me, asking If i want to google any other products. Any who he will wish he never did that.

You know the more I read the less I miss working for them. Call the Corp office in Goodlettsville Tenn.YOU need to make a change, complaining on this site will get you nowhere

Why are you so concerned about quality if you're only paying a dollar?

Imagine working at a Dollar General that tolerates drinking on the job. An employee did it there for 10 months that I know of and other employees that have been at that location for years had wrote statements and called the district manager nothing was ever done. Do they really care about their employees or the saftey of the public? I think not.

They only do drug testing for Key Holders, and random drug testing for the others. I've known several drug users who worked at DG, and they claim to have a zero tolerance policy for that kind of thing. Yeah right.

store #07190 in Sandersville Mississippi has the worst management I have ever seen.. I was really excited to see the store come to town but it is nasty and the management is rude & the store never has anything on the shelf anymore... also it doesn't matter how many are working they will make the customers stand in line & never come to help the cashier... the store is so nasty & the management so rude that I now travel to another store ..

Complaining here will get you nowhere, call their CORP office in Goodlettsville, Tenn. The quality and consistency will never change unless you call

This person is telling the truth.The manager at the Amenia DG is known for his odd behavior and advances on young girls.Reports have been filed and he has been under investigation.

This is where your wrong, they want their MGR's as well all associates to be happy and cheerful and all that BS. The fact is that they need to have a show on Undercover Boss at a Dollar General, not one that they choose. I don't blame you for quitting, you will see that retail is tuff and you need to be also. This is the worst Dollar General have ever been in. The employees are rude, loud, and horse-playing around while customers are waiting to be checked out. Boxes of stock are always in the way, I cant go down several aisles because of the boxes: this happens all the time no matter what time or day it is. I'm truly disgusted with this store, other DG's in the area are much more organized and have friendly employees. Guess I will be going to them instead of the Pope, MS. store.

i am a former employee at this store until she started hiring her family and everyone elses family now her brother woks with her and then the assistasnt has her cousins working that was messed up so i quit is there something you can do about that?

i also work at a dollar general. our store had a second key manager quit. therefore, 3rd key went to 2nd, and one worker got third. i have been decent employee for the year i have been working there. never been wrote up, never had any complaints. well a new girl got a job at our store, after 3 months she started dating the 3rd now 2nd key managers son, and she has been wrote up twice about not doing her basic job duties, then when the 2nd key managers quit, she got the 3rd key job.come to find out she is engaged to her son. I'm thinking what the fudge! they gave the job to someone who cant lift a phone book. i have been waiting a year on at job working my butt off for some kind of respect. I'm here trying to pay bills, only getting like 20 to 25 hours a week.

I am customer at DG. ROSWELL Main North, in the week of April 8th to 14th, I visit your store, they wewe two young gentilman working at the cash registrer, and a strong smell of mariguana as well. They were very polite, just as the smell. I though HOW COULD THEY...

Seriously you need to grow up, I may work as a cashier but I am not your babysitter and there to clean up after your kid. Yes kids have accidents, and maybe you should have been nicer. But its a health hazard and nasty...

The dollar general in gastonia/kings mountain the receipt say store number 4723 is one of the most unsanitary store I have ever seen and walked in to in my life the manager needs to step up I ask the little girl that was in charged that night if she was ok cause they had her stocking dog food and washing liquid she looked so over heated I think someone need to look into this store

i was just at dollar general store 10385...the cashier was very rude n mad when i had to add adollar n ten cents in dimes to my bills to pay for my order... she threw my change down on the counter at me ... n the store always has boxes everywhere on the floor every single day ... i shop at this store everyday but because of today i will be shopping else where from now on...this used to be the best store for me to go ...

Stock carts full and empty have the isle so full you cannot get to the product you are in need of. Someone needs to get off their butt and put it up on the shelves. Employees need to stay close to the cash register and not down the back isle trying to do two jobs.

Everytime I go into the Linton, Indiana west side store there are aisles you can not go down because of the cart of merchandise that they have sitting there. Sometimes it will sit there all day and in the evening two or three hours before they close they bring in the merchandise from outside the store front and fill up more aisles. I think they should only bring out the new merchandise as they put it on the shelves and kept the aisles clear for people to do their shopping. There is a new Dollar General in Dugger, Indiana which is in a neighboring town and I go there because it is always clean and aisles are empty. Please do something about the aisles being blocked off in this store. Thank you.

all seems ok jim. the country's buzzin about it now; my part of the country is really quiet and the beaches are empty which is good news for us here.

What with the usual british negativity we started with most of the typically british moaners have been over shadowed by the positives.

I totally agree! I have witness every behavior that phuckdollargeneral talked about in almost all of the dollar generals. Only one was professional that I have visited and a majority of their customer base consisted of the homeless men that lived downtown.
The cashiers are very rude and lazy. They have to checkouts but they only utilize ONE.
They ask no demand the customers to leave all bags at the front of the store they do not watch these bags and have said that they are not responsible for the theft of your items [censored] if MY items get STOLEN in dollar generals care everything will be replaced by the company plus more one way or another. When you approach the store there is a huge cig smoke cloud made by the employees who seem to be able to take breaks every 30 mins.
I only go to a DGstore if it is the only one in the area. When making complaint they do nothing bc they are buddies outside of work where they smoke and drink together.

I was there in the store about 8:23pm and they close at 9:00pm. Anyway that Im in a wheelchair and my legs hurt with severe rheumatiod arthritis. I purchased my item and then asked the cashier (management) about if she could help me with the door. She had no one else in the store but me. She hesitated and turned to me and said "please would be nice!" Wow I was so angry that I couldnt even say anything. Ive been in this wheelchair for a long time and never had I encounted such rudeness!

i just visited ur store #06384. when i arrived my greeting was i had 4 min 2 do my shopping. when i left there was no thank u or goodnight. teach ur employees courtesy or lose my business.

Dollar General on Ridge Road, Hobart Indiana- Who hires the employees? I frequent this store and find that the "newer" employees are very rude. As far as I'm concerned they will not be getting my business any further. I tend to stop there about once a week and spend about 25 to 35 dollars each time, but I will spend my money elsewhere from now on.

You have a lot of nerve calling this cashier rude when you are rude yourself. You have no manners yourself as other posters have stated. A person with manners would say please. A person who is rude does not say please. She would not have been rude to you if you said please. Also what does being in a wheelchair have to do with your inablility to say please? You complain about her being rude when you were rude first. They have a word for people like that it is called hypicriatial.

I went in to dollar general March 21st, I was tottally humilitated by both the clerk and the manager. I had coupons for my purchases, the clerk mess it up and called the manager. Both were extremly rude... They were both huffin and puffen on having to void the sale. She went to ring it up and did the samething. Blamed me and was slamming my stuff around, over charged me and there were people in line while she was yelling at me for there mistake. I am a bussiness owner in bremen and will never go back in there again... I will also tell all my customers what happened. Connie Gill

I went to the local Dollar General in Seminole, TX yesterday to buy a few items. There were so many boxes of new stock laying all over the sales floor. Big hazard for anyone looking for an insurance claim.
As I went to the checkout, there was a female just going on shift while the male was at the register. He was supposed to be completing the sale on the customer in front of me, which eventually he did. In the time of that transaction, the employee never once greeted his customer, but he and the female continued to complain, complain, complain, and complain about the manager. She did this and she did that and she didn't do that, and "what?!" She took keys to the back area so the radio could not be turned down as a customer asked. (The radio in that store is TOO loud and it is on rock music. That is not conducive to shopping music! Next, when it was my turn, he was talking so much to the other employee about their manager, complain MORE that he lost track of what he was doing. I did not tell him, and he just stood there for about 10 seconds trying to figure out what he had to do, put money in the register or take money out? He was trying to remember if he gave me the change yet and it actually made him shut his mouth, ignore the other employee and pay attention to his work! I do not shop in this store because the employees are rude and the store is messy. I went this time only because there was an item I had to pick up for someone else and that is where she purchased it the last time. I won't spend my money there. Too much gossip and not enough work!

I would agree to how a manager might feel living and working in Jackson TN. The employees are very ### to customers and act like they complaing about helping a customer. I tried to make a complaint today due to an emlpoyee intimating me, standing behind me and talking loud and agreesive. This is not the first time and I plan to go back to provoke her into hitting me because this will be the only way to resovle an issue.

I was at Dollar General in Rock Island, Illionis with my son and my nephew. i go there very often because of the good prices they have and I can find almost anything i need there that i would have to pay alot more anywhere else. anyways, my little nephew was looking for batteries and they were right by him but on the side where he could not see them. there was a employee stocking in the isle right by him and he polietly asked her where the batteries were at. i don't believe to her knowledge that she knew i was standing near and when she came around the corner she muttered (excuse my language) jesus f:cking christ as she stompped past my nephew and literally almost ran right into him. I saw her face and she had a look of total irratetedness on her face. he was even very nice about asking her. he said excuse me maam do you know where i can find the batteries at. I feel she was totally out of line for the lannguage she used and the attitude she gave my nephew. He's not even in his teens yet and we are a very catholic family. he got in the car and was almost in tears cause he's not used to being talked to or treated like that. i wish i had a tape recorder cause i would be pressing some kind of lawsuit aganist dollar general for letting there emplyees treat people like that. i will be contacting the main office aganist this employee.. i suggest that people who wanna be treated with respect and curtosythat they don't go to the dollar general on blackhawk rd. in Rock Island, Illionis.
