Store inventory on shelves
Galesburg Illinois store location. Every time I go into the dollar tree store… There are more boxes in the back room (you can see then) then there is inventory on the shelf! Many many many occasions, I’m still finding newly stocked inventory for New Year’s Eve, or Christmas glasses, etc. If the inventory had been put on the shelf during the holiday season...
Read full review of Dollar TreeIts not about the products I shop at dollar tree.
Ive been a regular customer at my local DT for at least 10 years. I shop once a week averaging about $60. This week I decided to go shop for some July 4th decorations. This time I have not shopped for two weeks until yesterday. When I came in I didnt see my favorite once retired salesperson at the cashier whose name is RUSTY. Let me tell you about Rusty. Hes retired like me, hes been working at this DT for a good one year. The moment I met him for the first time he was to me the best representation of what a salesperson should be. He had an endearing, enigmatic, and irresistible personality. Before he came, Dollar Tree was like the cemetery you had to visit out of necessity.
After Rusty joined this team, his customers enjoyed shopping not only for the cheap products but honestly because he lighted the room every time. He was just a captivating person who made your shopping spree one level up with fun and laughter. His voice towered even at the back of the store when he greeted every customer who just walked in like they were friends hes not seen in a long time. And at the cashier, while hes doing the final charging of your items he is most considerate and sensitive to the nuances of the products you are paying and his side comments were always positive and service centered to you the customer.
I really enjoyed shopping at DT when Rusty was working so I try to schedule my trip when he did. But yesterday I was shocked that he was gone and a new young teenage-looking man I have not seen before was speaking to another customer at the cashier and replied to a customer who asked, Hey where is Rusty? He replied that Rusty was fired for misbehaving toward a customer something like acting in a non-professional way but he didnt give the details of course. So I also asked him later about Rusty and he replied the same but said Rusty was let go before he was hired.
Of course, I was not there to give my opinion if the action against him was justified or not. All I can say is that from my vantage view, Rusty was the best thing that happened to the local DT where I shopped. Whatever he did, maybe justified for letting him be fired, that's the decision of the employer. But I'm just wondering why DT could not consider as a whole the positive contributions of this person and allowed him to be able to return after say putting him on leave to ponder on his "sins" against his company. Maybe giving him a second chance? Ive not ever seen any incident of unproductive and difficult customers in my ten years of shopping there so I cant even wrap my mind around the possibility of Rusty acting i such an out of control way because of his gregarious and ready-to-please personality .
So this is for you Rusty, wherever you are, I hope youre in a better place where the concept of a second chance is still celebrated. Im retired too and as a former health professional working in the busiest local hospital ER, trauma setting, in the southside of Chicago for over 20+ years there's not a day where I didnt embrace and pray for second chances even for people especially young people, who made wrong decisions and were now lying almost in their death beds.
Desired outcome: Celebrate sales team members who actually say they love their job and who show that by making their customers walk in as if they are the most important people that day.

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration regarding an unpleasant experience I had at your Dollar Tree store located at 153 Bergen Blvd, Fairview, NJ 07022. On June 4, 2023, at approximately 9:40 AM, I encountered an employee who exhibited unprofessional behavior, which not only left a negative impression but also reflects poorly on your establishment.
Upon my arrival at the Dollar Tree Fairview, I was met by an employee stationed at the entrance, who informed me that the store was closed and I could not enter. When I inquired about the reason for the early closure, I was told, "We have the right to close as early as we want." The employee made no attempt to provide any explanation or assistance regarding the situation.
Moreover, when I politely requested the employee's name for future reference, I was met with a disrespectful response. She replied with, "Figure it out and have a nice life." This type of dismissive and unhelpful attitude is not only discourteous but completely unprofessional. As a customer, I believe that such behavior is unacceptable and undermines the positive shopping experience that Dollar Tree should strive to provide.
To make matters worse, this was not an isolated incident. I experienced the exact same situation on the previous day as well. These repeated occurrences contribute to a pattern of poor customer service and reflect negatively on Dollar Tree as a whole. I can assure you that I am not the only customer affected by this issue, and it is undoubtedly costing your store potential sales and damaging your reputation.
I urge you to take this complaint seriously and address the issue promptly. I kindly request that appropriate disciplinary action be taken against the employee responsible for her unprofessional behavior. Additionally, I suggest conducting proper training programs for all employees at the Dollar Tree Fairview location to ensure they understand the importance of providing excellent customer service and representing the Dollar Tree brand positively.
As a loyal customer, I believe in the value and affordability that Dollar Tree offers, but incidents like these make me reconsider whether I should continue to patronize your store. I genuinely hope that you will take the necessary steps to rectify this situation and restore my faith in your establishment.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding the actions taken to address this complaint.
Clean up the store or find someone who can.
This store is almost unstoppable. Boxes fill the aisles while the shelves have empty spots. People running into the boxes, or having to step over them. Not only are you losing money because your inventory is closed up in boxes, but it’s a safety issue! We shop at many of the stores, but this one is by far the worst. The manager also has an attitude and berates customers in the store. I’ve heard it more than once.

I proceed into the dollar store. I grab what I need and began to go to the cashier (Tenisha). Manager Jody begins to question me on what I'm going to do with what I have, which was broom sticks. I told her it was for my garden as stakes with wire down the plant beds. She began to have a Karen-like attitude with me. She also was questioning me like an officer. I didn't like it at all. Everybody better watch out for the Dollar store police. To solve her issue, She needs to keep stock organized and have extra stock if something were to run out. Stay ready so you don't have to get ready.
Desired outcome: She needs to work on her social skills. She also needs to mind her own business.

Daughter brought 1 pack of 4 pack drinks cashier rung up up 4 times went back in told had to get items to equal up. Stole my money from me and expect me to go get items. How do we know they not doing this on purpose to keep the extra money for their pockets. Yhey know if they do that their register will be over the amount. Consider this theft. Want to tell ne how I should act in the store. Stealing from customers should be a crime.
Desired outcome: Refund on receipt when proven over charge. Cashier should face charges if this is constantly happening.
Merchandise refunds
On 5/20/23, I purchased some household items for a local non-profit. When I brought some items back for a refund, I was told by the manager/assistant manager that "chemical" items could not be returned for a refund, but only be exchanged. I had about 8-10 items to return, but she never really looked in the bag to see what was being returned. The only thing that might be considered "chemical" were some disinfectant wipes.
Desired outcome: I would like to get a refund (on the debit card I used) for the merchandise I wanted to return
Customer service
Purchased balloons at store in Newton, NJ; store #7913
Asked for 3 specific colors, was told very rudely to find those colors in a large bunch of balloons that were already inflated. 2 balloons accidentally came loose from where the bunch was and I was rudely told to return them to where the others were. After balloons were purchased, I asked if there was a small holder I can use to hold balloons so the wouldn’t fly away. This same employee, who I believe is the manager said “we’re not a party store”
Extremely rude staff!
Desired outcome: I’d appreciate a response

Visited your store and was greeted with this (see photos attached). I certainly understand that restocking must happen, but this should not violate any safety rules, which of course I am certain you must have and abide by.
Yes, they all were diligently working at stocking product, but none seem to understand that this is not only a risk to them but to any patron.
If this is not included in your policy then it should and if it is, then it needs to be reinforced.
Italian ice
I've been a regular customer at the local Dollar Tree in Newport News, VA. I'm lactose intolerant so I found icees. When I asked in the past if I could order, I was told No. : so I began purchasing as many as possible when they were stocked. I'm preparing for cataract surgery so I must depend on someone else (which makes it easier, when I can buy in bulk) I contacted the store Monday the lady stated she'd received stock on Thursday and put aside items in the freezer. I asked how many available, she said60. We agreed my neighbors would be by to purchase: however, I called before they went to let the store know my neighbors would be there, but the lady stated she only had 40 items. I stated I wanted them and she said yes, I was a regular. My neighbors called extremely upset stating no one would check in the rear of the store, they refused to acknowledge anything of the items to be purchased. I was only permitted10 and told me they didn't care who I called to complain they weren't concerned. (I've been a regular, plus my neighbors have purchased for me since at present I can't drive.) I called this morning and was told items couldn't be held. I didn't know until I called but the females let me know they didn't care how I was affected as a customer. I've attempted to order but denied. I don't understand. A sale is a sale.
Desired outcome: If there's a limit,it should be poted. Also,an apology bc they embarrassed my neighbors attempting to help me.
